Abstract:

The contemporary advertising discourse constitutes a highly fertile ground for pragmalinguistic, rhetorical, and stylistic analysis due to its effective utilization of persuasion strategies, lexical creativity, the opposition between verbal and non-verbal elements, and stylistic contrasts. This study aims to provide, on the one hand, an analysis of advertising within the fashion industry and, on the other hand, an examination of consumer behavior and the process of adaptation to the evolving consumer society. The objective of the research is to explore, explain, and describe this phenomenon to facilitate a deeper understanding of both advertising itself and its relationship with members of the consumer society.  The primary goal of this study is to develop a model for analyzing advertising discourse, with a focus on elucidating its pragmatic significance. The analysis is centered on interpreting both linguistic and extralinguistic components of discourse, thereby enabling the identification and projection of its pragmatic aspects across different levels of language.

Abstract:

This article explores the role of audio-visual materials in teaching vocabulary to primary school students, emphasizing their benefits in enhancing language acquisition and communication skills. The significance of audiovisual materials in English-as-a-second-language (ESL) classrooms is increasingly recognized as technology and foreign language education evolve. Understanding the nature and development of these materials is crucial since they enhance the learning experience. The interplay of language, structured as a macro-system, involves various micro-systems, where grammar is just one component. Modern theories of language acquisition highlight individual learner traits, allowing teaching through audiovisual content to connect with personal experiences. Teachers play a pivotal role, tasked with organizing these experiences and providing suitable materials. Authentic teaching resources, drawn from real-life contexts, have become invaluable, facilitated by audiovisual techniques that require diligent preparation and enthusiasm from educators and institutions.
Today's ESL teaching emphasizes comprehension and oral skills from an early age, moving away from traditional methods in search of innovative approaches. Quality must take precedence over quantity in teaching materials to effectively engage students. Ultimately, the success of various foreign language teaching methods largely hinges on the teacher's attitude, who must cultivate a positive and dynamic classroom atmosphere to encourage successful language learning.

Abstract:

The role of intangible heritage in defining the identity profile of a community is essential. Heritage is closely linked to collective memory and is an integral part of our existence. Our mission is to identify, research, and preserve it, and then make it accessible to the public. Culinary cultural heritage is part of the category of intangible heritage that deserves investigation and appreciation, especially in the context of the increasing concern regarding identity and relationship with others. The example analysed in this paper is provided by the eCULTFOOD platform (http://ecultfood.ub.ro), which includes audiovisual documents representing culinary recipes collected through field surveys in localities of Bacău County, Romania, during the period 2016-2017.

Abstract:

Teaching grammar to young learners requires an engaging, interactive, and creative approach that captures their interest and facilitates understanding. This paper explores various effective methods for conducting grammar lessons that make learning enjoyable and meaningful. These methods include contextualizing grammar through storytelling, incorporating games for engagement, using songs and rhymes for repetition, employing interactive activities, using visual aids, modeling and drills, integrating technology, encouraging peer collaboration, connecting grammar to real-life situations, and scaffolding instruction. Each method aims to provide a holistic learning experience that ensures young learners grasp and apply grammatical concepts effectively.

Abstract:

This article explores the pervasive role of euphemisms across various domains, focusing on their use in legal, medical, and everyday language. Euphemisms serve as linguistic tools to soften harsh realities, convey politeness, and navigate sensitive topics. In legal contexts, euphemisms often mask complexities or ambiguities, while in medical settings, they are employed to depersonalize or obscure uncomfortable truths. The study also examines "hot language" as a means to exaggerate mundane experiences and analyses the everyday necessity of euphemisms to navigate social interactions. By highlighting the historical evolution and modern applications of euphemisms, the article underscores their adaptability and cultural significance.
