Focus and Scope

The LiBRI journal started in 2010 with the late Prof. Dr. Ioan-Lucian Popa, editor-in-chief of LiBRI, to whom we thank posthumously for his involvement in the editorial activity of this academic journal.
The new editorial team is coordinated by Dr. Cenel-Augusto Perez (editor-in-chief).

Our goal is to explore or survey the existing worlds of ideas and to chart new territories. We aim at linking with centres of excellence all over the world with the objective of offering authoritative coverage and references in focused and specialist humanistic disciplines and domains. Our ambition is to encourage and support innovative thinking and also to become an important part of the landscape of academic publishing. We also aspire to make LiBRI a venue that allows emerging as well as well-established scholars to publish and compare their work and to establish collaboration relationships in the process.

A critical objective of LiBRI's mission statement is to provide highly relevant information. LiBRI has implemented a rigorous peer review process to ensure the high quality of its material. With regard to the policies and procedures, all scientific papers and communications published in LiBRI shall be reviewed by at least two referees who are competent and have experience in the area of the subject matter of the paper. Referees are formal reviewers whose comments and opinions will form the basis upon which the Editor-in-Chief will decide whether or not to publish the paper and with what changes. LiBRI requires that referees treat the contents of papers under review as privileged information, not to be disclosed to others before publication. The referees are protected from personal interactions with the author by withholding their names. The Editors' decision is always based on all the reviews received, but mixed reviews present the need for the exercise of editorial judgement. Thus, the final decision for acceptance or rejection lies with the Editor-in-Chief at the advice of the Editorial Board. The review process shall ensure that all authors have equal opportunity for publication of their papers.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Alongside our regular editions, LiBRI will publish special editions focusing on a particular theme relevant to one of the areas of interest mentioned above. We will also devote our efforts to the integration of LiBRI into journal directories with a view to enhancing the exposure of our journal and consequently that of the scholars that contribute articles. By implementing our strict policy of ensuring the quality of the published material, we aim at increasing the international circulation. A turning point in our activity will be the moment when articles and authors of further issues of LiBRI are cited by authors around the world. We have also kept in mind one important aspect, that of standardisation. In the Author Guidelines, we have assembled a series of requirements that are aligned to the practice of numerous other scholarly journals and that will ensure the quality of the presentation of the scientific content of the articles. We would like to address our warmest thanks to the members of our Scientific Advisory Team for their support and dedication that have made LiBRI what it is today.

Abstract:
Teaching and learning practices in ESL (English in a Second Language) classrooms at the undergraduate level in India, particularly in Kashmir Valley, pose significant challenges. These challenges arise from the diverse linguistic backgrounds of the students. In Kashmir Valley, English is taught as a second language at both college and university levels in public and private sectors. Generally, English is a compulsory subject from schools to universities. This research investigates the challenges that occur and the resultant strategy that ESL teachers use to manage multilingual classrooms at the undergraduate level in Kashmir Valley colleges. The study employs a qualitative research paradigm, utilising structured online interviews with undergraduate teachers from various colleges, namely Government Degree College Shopian, Government Degree College Kulgam, Government Degree College Anantnag, Government Degree College Baramulla, and SSM College Srinagar, all affiliated with the University of Kashmir. The study highlights that the diverse linguistic backgrounds of students require teachers to use multiple strategies in ESL classrooms to cater to these differences. These strategies have varying impacts on the learners' performance.

Abstract:

 O. V. Vijayan’s novels explore the deep journey of self-realisation through characters who face personal, social, and spiritual challenges. His protagonists are often shown searching for meaning in life while dealing with the conflicts of tradition, modernity, and inner emptiness. This paper discusses how Vijayan presents the idea of self-discovery in novels like “The Legends of Khasak” and “The Saga of Dharmapuri”, where the main characters experience a spiritual quest that goes beyond their everyday lives. Vijayan uses symbols, myths, philosophical ideas, and beliefs. The clash of old customs with modern realities, along with the burden of history, forms the setting for these inner journeys. The paper also studies Vijayan’s unique writing style, which blends realistic situations with mystical and spiritual reflections, bringing out the emotional and intellectual struggles of his characters.
